When Her Stepsister Took Her Bed, One Hidden Account Changed Everything-mdue

The mattress on the floor was not even thick enough to hide the cold coming through the carpet.

Sofía learned that on the first night Daniela moved back in.

She lay beside the closet with one pillow under her head and her school hoodie pulled around her shoulders, listening to her half sister breathe from the bed that had belonged to Sofía since middle school.

The room smelled like makeup powder, chip crumbs, and the plastic cover on the thin spare mattress her dad had dragged from the garage.

Two weeks earlier, Sofía still believed that imperfect families could at least have safe corners.

Hers had been that bedroom.

It was not fancy, and it was not big, but it held everything she was careful with.

Maybe their dad spoiled her because guilt had a longer reach than fairness.
