It moved through a motor pool where men stopped laughing as soon as the logistics clerk walked by.

It moved through the operations center with the smell of burnt coffee, printer toner, diesel exhaust, and hot dust from the yard outside.

At 0600, the transport manifest went up on the board outside the operations office.

At 0615, people were already standing in front of it.

Nobody crowded the paper.
