Emily’s fingers closed around the cold railing beside the elevator.

“What are you talking about?”

“Your American Express Gold,” her mother said, almost cheerfully. “Ninety-nine thousand dollars. Flights, resort, shopping, the whole thing. You thought you were clever hiding it? Think again.”

The words did not land all at once.
